KELVIN WALTER, JR
Pastor, Co-founder, & Executive Director
Reverend Kelvin Walter is the son of the founder of Welcome Home American Veterans (Kelvin Walter Sr.). He is a graduate of St. John's University with a B.A Degree in communications. Rev. Walter has a Masters of Professional Studies from New York Theological Seminary. Over the past years, He has worked with various mens, youth and young adult ministries. His ambition now is to provide shelter, refuge and training for Disabled and or Homeless Veterans.
MARSHA MURRAY
Veterans Support Program Director
Marsha E. Murray, Esq., was appointed by Mayor Sylvester Turner and confirmed by City Council to serve as the Director of the City of Houston’s Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) in April 2020, after having served as OBO’s Interim Director. As Director, Ms. Murray is responsible for leading the City’s supplier diversity, workforce development, and inclusion efforts, with a focus on administering programs and initiatives that increase access to economic opportunity for historically underutilized businesses and disenfranchised individuals. Marsha is determined to provide programs for people who have had limited access to resources and tools to create opportunities for sustained success.
BRITTANY WALKER-MEADE
Director of Operations
She brings in her expertise from running multiple non-profit organizations while she studied Social and Cognitive Neuroscience at Harvard University. Brittany's passion for equity brings her to WHAV. Her career is dedicated to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education as she works on school district professional development plans nationwide, and brings that same passion to ensuring veterans have access to high-quality living conditions and medical care as they build the knowledge and skills they need to become self-sufficient.
ASHELY WALTER
Director of Partnerships
Ashely serves as Welcome Home American Veterans Director of Partnerships. She brings in her knowledge from running her own business after graduating Queens college with a degree in political science. Ashely’s passion to help others brings her to WHAV. Her business is committed to serving millions of people and guaranteeing that every client has the best experience. Ashely will bring that same passion to ensure veterans have a facility they can call home all while preparing them to acquire the skills and independence they need to be self-sufficient.
KIMBERLY WRIGHT
Community Development Adviser
Experienced Senior Pastor with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organization management industry. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Youth Development, Program Evaluation, Event Management, and Volunteer Management. Strong community and social services professional with a Masters of Education focused in Elementary Education from City University of New York City College. Pastor Kim Wright is passionate about community development for neighborhoods that have been neglected, underfunded and forgotten about.
ALEXANDRA RUIZ
Veterans Community Affairs Liaison
Alexandra Ruiz was founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Immigrant Advancement Matters (I.A.M.). During her tenure, I.A.M. served the immigrant community in Queens, NY by offering ESOL classes, conversation mixers, and personal advancement workshops reaching over 1,000 people per year. Most recently she worked at NYC Department of Small Business Services as Executive Director of Business Development & Strategy supporting strategic initiatives and business programs that serve over 19,000 small businesses a year. Additionally, she has served as Adjunct Professor at New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and St. John's University.
